Essay - Orientalism as Oppression →
I won’t post the full text here, but if anyone is interested in reading a short essay I wrote for my Egyptian film class entitled “Orientalism Oppression”, I have posted it on my website. The paper gives a brief description of the term, how it functions to oppress the peoples in colonised states, and how it influences the media. It specifically looks at an Egyptian melodrama from 1944 called Gharam wa Intiqam.
